How long does a 12 car battery take to charge?

I think my car battery is dead, so I am charging it with a 4000mA Battery Charger, its a 12V car battery, just wondering how long this will take?|||24 hrs to 36 hrs, depends on how dead your battery is.|||A standard sized car battery will typically have ~100amphours of storage.

If it's completely drained you take 100/4amps=25hours. Then add maybe extra 10-20% for charging overhead.

Probably though, the battery probably is not completely drained, it maybe is at 80% or so.

If you care about the life of your battery though, you really should charge slower. Hopefully you also have a smart charger that will automatically switch charging modes and not cook and ruin your battery.|||modern silver/calcium/lead batteries need a higher initial charging current and a taper off as the battery gets charged, you should only use an automatic charger on those, effectively you are trickle charging which should really be at 1.5-2 amps|||24 hrs the trickle chargers need about a day to charge the batterys the charge will be a better charge and last longer on the battery.
