Can your car battery dying cause your engine light to come on?

I have a 1997 Nissan Sentra GLE. My dome light was left on for over 36 hours and when I jumped my car, my check engine light was on. Could if have just been triggered on because my battery died? It is in great condition and gets regular checks and updates when needed. Can your car battery dying cause your engine light to come on?
In short, yes it would. If the battery is now fully charged, unhook the ground terminal for a few minutes and re-attach. The check engine light may still be on but it will re-set within 250 miles of use. If you are worried about the light on the dash your handy dandy Nissan Dealer can re-set the indicator code that's making it stay on, on the dash.

Good Luck to ya,

Are you really a Confederate Dolly?

Jumped; Black to Alt. Mount of car being jumped (Black or Negative of Battery Jumping from to Alt. or any good Block area, This Prevents Arching), Red (Positive) Red to Red "When Ready to start". Check All Fuses and Relays in Both Fuse/Relay Boxes. Dead Battery Will Not Turn On the Check Engine Light. Can your car battery dying cause your engine light to come on?
yes if it sees battery voltage out of a self test range, I could fix that up after our date the two guys below check your oil level for what that will not set a check engine light and the guy below that is tell you how to wire a house i"m sure beat it with your 38 years
never heard of such a thing. you need to have the system checked to see what that light really means. i believe pep boys does that, maybe for free if they get to do the work. there are codes that will show up on their testing equipment that will give a better clue as to whats wrong. hows your oil level? Can your car battery dying cause your engine light to come on?
