Does a car battery that has been sitting on the side of my house for two years pose any health threat?Car battery?
Well it is heavy so you could drop it on your foot. It is also 3/4 full of sulphuric acid, which is caustic. Finally the lead plates would be toxic if you ate them!. Seriously if you leave it alone, it is not going to hurt you but you ought to get rid of it. Take it to a scrap dealer or your local refuse amenity site. Don't put it in the bin, as it has lots of recyclable metal - too good for landfill.Car battery?
yes, as more time takes its toll on the plastic housing of the battery cells, it will weaken and crack, sulfuric acid will leak out. if the acid touches a certain mineral or metallic object the chemical reaction can let off poisonous fumes. some you can see and smell, some you can not.Car battery?
Only if it leaks acid into the ground or vapors escape from the battery.
