Can you get a electric shock from a car battery is the engine is off?

I want to change headlights in my car, i will have the cars ignition turned off when i do it, i see wires around, i dont want to get shocked in anyway, can people die from recieving a electric shock from a car battery. With the ignition off or on? Or just on? Thanks, just curious really. Can you get a electric shock from a car battery is the engine is off?
no a car battery wont kill you the key in this situation doesn't matter the headlight switch will be controlling power to the wires your using. ive leaned my sweaty arm across a positive battery terminal %26amp; the ground its pretty uncomfortable kinda burns but not deadly p.s. my car has 2 1000 amp batteries if that wont kill ya seriously doubt any 1 battery can
Dont you mean 2 100 amp hour batteries?

it seriously depends all on from what point to what point the flow is. if its from your right hand to left hand, big problem. if its from finger to thumb, its funny. In short, it takes VERY little power to stop your hart, so if the flow crosses your hart, then yes it will.

If you're worried about getting zapped, disconnect the battery. You can still get a jolt even if the ignition is off.
You can get a shock from a car battery if the key is off, but you should not have any problems if you are just changing a headlight. There is no power to the light or the plug if the light switch in the car is in the "off" position.
On a regular car (non hybrid) the battery is only 12 volts and at most 30-35 amps. This amount of voltage is pretty much harmless. You might feel a slight tingle from direct contact but you certainly would not get a severe shock unless you were messing with the ignition components which can have 30,000 volts in them when the car is running.

Most wires in a modern car are well insulated and the headlight connections are usually encased in a plastic socket so your exposure will be quite limited.
nope
