Is a car battery eligible for the warranty if it is not chargeable?
A car battery has 3 years warranty. After one year the battery is unable to be charged if the vehicle is not operated for one week. However, jump up can start the vehicle and the battery will work again. Can you tell whether the battery is eligible for the warranty? The issue is whether a good battery should be chargeable after it is weak or as long as jump starting works, the battery is not a defective one? Thank you for your answer.|||It has to be load tested by the dealer and then if they fail that there will be a deductible on the years used....so your probably better off to just get a new one..|||They pro-rate the usage, so if you only have one year left, you'll get very little credit for the unused life even if they test it and find it unable to hold a charge properly. You need to buy a new battery every 4 years. Have your battery charged and load tested at the store you bought it at. Then measure the alternator charging voltage to be 14.0 Volts or greater at engine idle.|||Depends on the dealer where you buy the battery or the car. If the battery has become not chargeable months before the expiration of the warranty, it is wise if you just buy a new one.
