Should I disconnet my car battery for long periods of inactivity?

I have a car that I will not be using for a month. The car will be outside in the cold. Should I disconnect the battery?|||Hi,

If youre not using the car for a month it is recommended to disconnect the battery. Batteries, depending on age, do suffer from self discharge. If the battery is not used or charged for a long duration, it will loose its charge over this time.

Also in the cold weather, the internal resistance of the battery will be higher. This will also cause self discharge in the battery.

Either disconnect the battery, or if possible, get someone to start the vehicle every couple of days to ensure the battery is kept active.

Hope this helps!|||I would disconnect the negative black battery cable. However, your alarm system will be off and you will lose your radio presets etc.|||Depends, how old is the battery? You could buy a trickle charger and connect it to the battery. You probably shouldn't need to disconnect it unless it is weak.|||The best thing to do is get a Battery Tender. This will keep the battery active and charged. The price is about the same price as anew battery but will pay for itdelf overtime. You can buy additional adapters for other vehicles as well like motorcycles or boats.|||No. You should start your car and let it run for a little while ( 5-10 min. ) about once a week. This will keep your battery charged.|||no run it about once a week for 10-15 minutes, or get a trickle charger and just let it plugged in...running the car would be a better bet
