How long will a fully charged car battery hold a charge not being hooked up?

I have a new fully charged car battery. How long do I have to install it in a car before the


battery loses its charge?|||You know how long those things stay on the shelf... like a year or two... and that's before you buy it.|||it will hold the charge for couple of years as long as stored properly, keep off concrete. will drain battery down.
