I own a 1996 Ford Explorer, and it's battery died two days ago when I left the lights on. If I leave the car battery uncharged for a few more days, will it be damaged?
And, I have jumper cables, what do I need to do to jump it from another vehicle?|||Yes it can be damaged, especially if it is really cold where your at. The cells in the battery can be destroyed.
Check out this video and maybe it will help.
http://www.ehow.com/how_112636_start-car鈥?/a>|||if it sits too long, the battery will sulfate, in other words, all the acid will go to the bottom, and besides it can freeze and bust, especially in cold weather.|||Leaving the battery flat for a few days will not harm it, to charge from another car, connect the jumper leads from the other cars battery to the correct terminals on your own cars battery, start the other car and then operate your own starter switch, your car should start, let both cars run for about 5 minutes and then disconnect the other car, leaving your own car running, and take you own car for a drive, this should bring your car battery up to normal charge.|||I recommend that you remove the battery from the car and trickle charge the battery. Be sure that the battery has water in it. Open the caps and check water level (DANGER BATTERY ACID) If the batteries water level is low add Distilled water to level line then charge. Replace the battery after cleaning all posts and connections your good to go.|||A few days wont hurt but if you leave it uncharged for more than 6 months it will damage the cells and wont take a charge|||Just a few days shouldn't hurt it providing it was a good battery to begin with. If you leave it discharged for an extended period, it will ruin it. Jumpstarting a car with a completely dead battery can possibly ruin your alternator. Even though the car will start, it will put an unnecessarily large load on the alternator and cause it to burn out by trying to completely charge the battery. Your best bet is to AT LEAST partially charge the battery before driving it. Fully charging is best though. (Then you don't need a jumpstart)|||If U leave the battery uncharged for couple of days it will not cause any damage to the battery but it is better to slow charge the battery after U check the acid level
to jump start your car from the battery of other car be sure U connect the jump cables properly becauce giving wrong connections can ruin your electric system by generating 24 volts current for this U need to connect positive pole of other battery to the negative pole of your battery and negative to positive if U connect positive to positive and negative to negative it will become 24 volts be carefull....|||no. jumper cables
