Im trying to run a box fan off a car battery was wondering how many watts the battery would put out. I know all car batteries are different just a round about guess would help. I was planning on using the battery from a Honda Prelude or an Infinity G20. Also are there certain car batteries that have more wattage. I read something about deep cycle batteries. How much do longer lasting car batteries cost? Thx|||A car's battery has a reserve capacity rating. A typical rating is 80 minutes, which means the battery can supply 25 amps at 12 volts for 80 minutes. If you consume 120 watts continuously, that means that you are draining about 10 amps from your car's battery continuously. A typical car battery can supply power at that level for perhaps three hours. A deep-cycle battery can supply power at that level for six or eight hours.|||watts are determined by taking voltage times the amperage. a full 12 volt battery actually has 12.6 volts and you would need to determine how many amps the motor requires to run. Most blower motors for cars use 6-7 amps to run.
That being said what you will want to get is the largest deep cycle battery you can afford. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be discharged and recharged repeatedly. A standard car battery is not designed to be fully discharged and recharged repeatedly and will fail much sooner. You didn't mention how you plan to keep the battery charged up but i assume you will only charge it once in a while after it has run down.|||At http://bit.ly/gEZ9Mg you may find another side to this question's answer.
