Is it okay to jump start a car with another car which has a new battery?

I need to jump start my car, but my friend won't let me use his car's battery, claiming that:

He recently replaced his car battery with a new one. He's been told that a new battery should not be used to jump start another battery for the first year of the new battery's use (I hope that made sense).

So, is my friend making up facts or is this true?|||YUP....thats my final Answer..|||No battery has more power than a new one. I've never heard that one.

Hook the Pos + to Pos + ( I recently saw a Chevy truck with a connection block half way between the battery and starter)

Neg - on the jumper car then neg - to the block or chassis of the dead car.|||If done properly it will not damage the battery. Follow the instructions in you owners manual for the proper way to jump your vehicle.|||Jump starting a car is like surgery, it can always be risky, if it is done correctly, you cut that risk. Please search how to do it correctly.|||Jump starting a car from anthor new car battery is fine as long as you put the Jumper cables on the right places "opposites" also DONT TOUCH THE METAL PART WHEN ATTACHED TO A CAR.|||It won't hurt your car at all, should ask him the real reason he won't jump it.

I just jumped my rig with a neighbors rig who had just put in a new battery.|||it wont hurt his car at all not being much of a friend
